Creepers Haunted House Review 2008

The Good
--Cast enthusiasm. It seems like nobody was calling it in. They were energetic and at 10PM at night, after having already done it for several hours, having energy is hard, and for an entire cast to have it, that says a lot.

--The Shovel Guy on the outside. The costume was just downright unsettling, and his shovel action got quite a few screams from people. The vacant stare was also creepy as hell.

--Johnny/Jimmy....not sure what his name was, but he was the guy that was scurrying around jumping up onto the cabinets, and crawling around on the floor. That was creepy, and when he crawled between myself and my wife, he drew a scream from her, because she didn't have a clue what was going on.

--Two scenes I absolutely loved. The waterfall scene with bridge and the water rolling down on either side of you. Nice and creepy and something you just don't see in haunted houses very often. And the other scene I liked is the rickety bridge over water. I felt like at any moment I could fall into the water.

--The walls closing in on you were an awesome effect, and really got us. Probably one of the best effects I've seen in a haunted house.

The Bad
--We were in a group with others, and we spent much of the house in the back of the line. We got little to no scares. The scares were catered for the people in the front of the line, so we heard 50% of them, but didn't see hardly any of them.

--No overall storyline. It was just random scenes strung together, and I hate that. Give me a storyline or a theme to work with.

--Too many dead spaces. I think what happened here is they went from 2 haunted houses to one big one, but it was too much for them, and they had a lot of dark hallways, no decorations, no nothing, just to get to the next scene.

--Michael Myers. Worst character I've scene in years. Not blaming the actor, I'm blaming the costume. The mask was hanging off of the guy, obviously not fitting him, and the jumpsuit was the $10 jumpsuit that you could pick up on clearance at Party City. It was just a bad job with it, and I honestly almost laughed at the guy.

--Too many follow behind or staring scares. There were probably a dozen times where a guy followed us and just kept making loud noises trying to scare us. If it didn't work the first time, it's not going to work the tenth time, and there were too many times where people would just follow behind us, not doing anything but following. Most of the time nobody knew they were back there, because they didn't do anything. And there were plenty of times where the characters would just stare at us, not doing anything. This could have been because they had already scared the front of the group, and hadn't reset yet.
